Dr Alan Home

Legal and Health Specialists

Dr Home has extensive experience as a clinical Occupational Physician. This specialty field of medical practice includes the assessment of injuries, illness and disease and how these impact upon function, both in the workplace and in daily activities.

Some of Dr Home’s key interests include the assessment and management of patients with musculoskeletal injuries, including spinal injury, fitness for work and impairment assessment.

Dr Home has extensive experience in the peer review of independent medical examination reports.

Dr Home is involved in the training of approved medical specialists (impairment) in Western Australia. He is a member of the WorkCover WA Medical Committee.

Dr Home is available to conduct clinical assessments in NSW and Western Australia in person.


Dr Wijetunga, believes in creating a repoire with the examinee and ensuring that the examinee is aware of the examination process.

Dr Wijetunga has extensive experience as an Occupational and Environmental Physician for injuries, illness and disease and how it relates to function, both in the workplace and in daily activities. In this capacity she has worked in the area of Corporate, Federal and State Government and has also been involved in development of these assessments for Government organizations.

Some of Dr Wijetunga key interests in industry include Fitness for work opinions. She has been acknowledged in the AFOEM Position Statement “Helping People to Return to Work”. She has also worked in the areas of management of drug and alcohol in the workplace and rail safety. She has been a committee member of the Policy and Advocacy Committee for the Australian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and was involved in the production of Drug and Alcohol guidelines for the faculty.

Dr Wijetunga is experienced in Workplace Consultancy and has worked in a Director position for Corporate to assist larger Industries in mining, transport and Emergency Services. In this capacity she has developed programs, products relating to Independent Medical Opinions, risk based pre employments and health monitoring programs with application relevant to specific environments including State Government Agencies. In a teaching capacity, Dr Wijetunga is involved in training and education for, Registrars and GP’s. She is also acknowledged in the publication: C. P. Colquhoun1 and A. Casolin2, Impact of rail medical standard on obstructive sleep apnoea prevalence, Occupational Medicine 2016;66:62–68.

Dr Samuel Lim
Consultant Psychiatrist

Qualifications: BSC(Hons), MBBS, MRCPsych (UK), FRANZCP, Cert Psych. Psychotherapy

Dr Samuel Lim is a consultant psychiatrist with a special interest in community psychiatry and psychotherapy. He is an Occupational Psychiatrist while also providing consultant services for insurers and is private clinical practice.

Dr Lim has extensive experience in clinical psychiatry in various settings. He was previously a staff specialist psychiatrist and site coordinator of training at the Prince of Wales Hospital and a locum staff specialist psychiatrist at the Royal North Shore Hospital.

He completed his undergraduate degrees in psychology at University College London (UK) and in medicine at King’s College London (UK). He then trained in psychiatry at The Maudsley Hospital in London. During this time, he also held an Academic Fellowship with the Centre for Neurodegenerative Disease and was involved in research in psychosis and dementia. Following his relocation to Australia, Dr Lim initially worked at the Royal North Shore Hospital where he developed the curriculum for the mental health component of the probationary constable orientation program. He has also worked at the Long Bay Forensic Hospital.

Dr Lim is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK). He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Psychiatrists with advanced standing in Psychotherapy. He has extensive experience in the management and treatment of mental health disorders in a variety of populations.

Dr Lim is experienced in fitness for work and total and permanent disability assessments, causation, and workers compensation-related matters. He has particular familiarity with first responders and transport workers. He has extensive experience working with employers and injury management advisors to support workers.

Dr Lim is an accredited assessor of permanent impairment and dispute resolution for the NSW PIC, for both the Motor Accidents Authority and Workers Compensation. He is also an accredited assessor for the WA Workers Compensation Commission. He is trained to conduct assessments for Worksafe (VIC) and TAC.

Dr Lim is available for Medicolegal Assessments for Civil matters, including work injuries, motor vehicle accidents, work injury damage and public liability claims, and medical negligence claims.

Dr Abeydeera is a Specialist Occupational Physician with the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM), Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP).

Following graduation from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, Dr Abeydeera completed his internship and junior medical training in the United Kingdom. Since moving to Australia in 2006, Dr Abeydeera underwent further hospital and emergency medicine training in NSW Health and Royal North Shore Hospital before focusing on Occupational Medicine in 2011.

Dr Abeydeera has completed a Graduate Diploma in Occupational and Environmental Health with Monash University and also holds Australian Certificate of Civil Aviation Medicine (ACCAM) with Monash University.

Dr Abeydeera has provided occupational, general and emergency medical services as a Fly-In Fly-Out (FIFO) doctor in a Queensland Surat Basin coal seam gas project and has a special interest in aviation medicine, health surveillance, safety critical workers health, work place drug and alcohol consultations, fitness for duty assessments and return to work.


Dr Prasad Abeydeera

Dr Yu-Tang Shen

Qualifications: MBBS, BMedSc, MPM, FRANZCP

Dr Yu-Tang Shen is a consultant psychiatrist and holds a position as a Staff Specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital and Prince of Wales Hospital.

Dr Shen completed his medical degree at The University of melbourne and trained in psychiatry at Prince of Wales and St Vincent’s Hospitals. He has been involved in medical teaching and training as Chief Registrar and undertaken research in Aboriginal Mental Health and obtained a Masters in Psychiatric Medicine through the NSW Institue of Psychiatry. He has undertaken advanced training in Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, and undertaken a Neuropsychiatry term at Prince of Wales Hospital.

Dr Shen has experience in psychodynamic therapy, CBT, MBT, DBT and IPT. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand Collage of Psychiatry and a member of the Faculty of Old Age and Faculty of Psychotherapy.

Dr Gerard Walsh has a commitment to serving communities across Australia in his role as a psychiatrist, addressing critical needs in both community settings, acute mental health services, and in forensic mental health.

Dr Walsh earned his medical degree from The Queen’s University in Belfast, UK. Subsequently, he trained in psychiatry in Wellington, New Zealand covering many sub-specialties in mental health. He completed his training at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney which included terms in Old Age Psychiatry and Neuropsychiatry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry (RANZCP).

He has expertise in treating and managing mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and personality disorders and has provided various types of medicolegal assessments in both Australia and New Zealand.

Dr Walsh is adept at preparing clear, concise, and objective written reports that adhere to established medico-legal standards. These reports detail psychiatric findings, diagnoses, and treatment recommendations. Throughout this process, the highest ethical standards, ensuring confidentiality, impartiality, and adherence to professional codes of conduct are upheld.

Dr Walsh’s commitment is to deliver accurate, ethical, and objective assessments that contribute to the medico-legal understanding of an individuals’ mental health status.

Dr Namrata Shetty

Qualifications: MBBS, FRANZCP, Cert. Old Age Psych 

Dr Shetty has extensive experience in general adult psychiatry, with a keen interest in psychopharmacology and neurocognitive disorders. She is a budding researcher with a focus on psychiatric disorders within the geriatric population. In addition to a  Fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists, she attained an Advanced Certificate in Old Age Psychiatry. Dr Shetty is a Visiting Medical Officer with South West Sydney Health Network.

In line with her interest in promoting understanding of psychiatric conditions, she conducts educational sessions for doctors and allied health services in addition to being an examiner for medical students with the University of Newcastle.

Her expertise is in the area of Anxiety Disorders, Depression (including Mood Disorders such as Bipolar Disorder), Personality Disorders, Psychosis, Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) and Capacity Assessments

Dr Linda Thomas is a Clinical Psychologist registered with Australian Health Practitioners Registration Authority and endorsed by the Australian Psychological society.

Dr Thomas provides expert opinion and treatment in the areas of clinical, forensic and neuropsychology.

She has been a medico-legal assessor since 2003 and consults on Fitness for Duty assessments, Personal Injury and damages claims for selected legal cases, life insurance and defendant insurance company referrals.

She is presently a Visiting Research Fellow at the Australian National University (ANU), and supervisor of Provisional Psychologists.

Dr Thomas holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from University of Canberra, a Master’s of Science with Honours from the University of Melbourne, and Bachelor of Science degree with Honours in Psychology from Macquarie University.

Dr Thomas has trained at the Institute of Forensic Pathology and the Royal Melbourne Hospital in neuropsychological and neuropathological assessment of various psychopathologies. She has published on these assessments and presented her findings at various international congresses.
